Toussaint en broillard

Toussaint, also known as the day of the dead, is a national holiday in France and many families come together during this weekend to celebrate this traditional holiday. They go to cemeteries to offer flowers to dead relatives but they also enjoy long lunches with their families. I have heard our local friends talking and planning the dishes long time ahead. The flower are sold everywhere in the villages and I have never seen such a concentration of chrysanthemum flowers as at this time in Provence. In sunny weather the cemeteries greatly glow by all the vibrant colours of chrysanthemum and offer a magnificent view. We will take a walk later in the afternoon to our local village in order to visit its tiny cemetery and also to send our thoughts to all friends and relatives which are not with us any more....
